Almere is the newest urban part of The Netherlands. The first part of this new city, called 'Almere Haven' was built by traditional city-developers/planners and -architects. The newest part that is under construction as we speak, is called 'Almere Poort' and is part of a pilot of the INTI (International New Town Institute).
Here people are experimenting with the situation in which governments and therefore city-planners and city-architects are kept out of site. The inhabitants can do whatever they want (within very limited restrictions) and build their own house the way they want it to be.
I was asked to photograph both sides to show the difference in light and styling and feeling of the different parts.
